

He was an Army National Guard Veteran and retired in 1992 from Whirlpool after 36 years. He was a member of Salem United Church of Christ - Huesler and attended Sacred Heart Catholic Church. He was a life member of the Eagles #427. He enjoyed spending time and traveling with family and friends.
William was preceded in death by his parents, Lancewell and Edna (Greene) McCarty; brothers, Lancewell Jr., James and Robert McCarty; previous wife, Donna McCarty; and step-son, Mark Linberg.
He is survived by his wife of 12 years, Dorothy McCarty; sons, Mark McCarty (Robin) and Keith McCarty (Kim) of Evansville; daughter, Jill Burns (Kevin) of Tennessee and their mother, Nancy McCarty; grandchildren, Laurie VanBibber (Brad), Christopher McCarty (Jessi), Elizabeth McCarty and Jeff Attebury; great-grandchildren, James and Alivia VanBibber; sister, Pat Francis (Gene) of Minnesota; sister-in-law, Debbie Clemons (Larry); niece, Jennifer Zoph (Jeremy); step-children, Cathy Partridge (Rick), Robert Linberg, Cindy Moore (Dan), Daniel Linberg (Debra), Angel Weiss (Brian) and Tony Linberg (Darlene); many step-grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Services will be 2:00 PM Thursday, December 2, 2010, at Alexander West Chapel, officiated by Fr. David Nunning with burial in Alexander Memorial Park. Friends may visit Wednesday from 3:00 to 8:00 PM and Thursday from 12:00 PM until service time at the funeral home.
