

Willie “Ray” Gibbs, 87, of Evansville, passed away Monday, June 23, 2014, at Parkview Care Center. He was born July 31, 1926, in Guthrie, TN, to the late James Henry and Thelma Estelle (McKinney) Gibbs.
He was a truck driver for many years and a proud member of Teamsters Local #215. He was also a member of the VFW and Eugene Pate American Legion. His hobby was CB Radio; “Apache” was his handle. He was an avid bowler and a fan of the Cardinals and IU Basketball.
Ray was preceded in death by his first and second wife, Winnifred Jordan Gibbs and Mary Gibbs; son, Randy Gibbs; parents; and sister, Margrett Jordan.
He is survived by his children, Alan Gibbs of Evansville, Rhonda (Tom) Deeter of Greenfield, IN, Jim (Kelly) Gibbs of Evansville, Lisa (Dave) Simpson of Wadesville, Rita (Bob) Harper, Mike (Carla) Pritchett, both of Evansville, and Pam Jacobi of Hazelhurst, WI; 14 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
Services will be 12:00 PM Monday, June 30, 2014, at Alexander West Chapel, officiated by Pastor Jerry Wirth, with entombment in Alexander Memorial Park. Friends may visit Sunday from 2:00 to 8:00 PM and Monday from 10:00 AM until service time at the funeral home.
