Farilyn Joreen Vick, 81, of Everett, devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on March 28, 2011.
Born on April 2, 1929, in Niobe, North Dakota, she moved to Everett along with her mother, father, and sister in 1936. She spent the rest of her life as part of the Everett community and was a proud Everett High School - Class of 1947.
She met her husband Dale while both were working for Weyerhaeuser, she as R&D Mill Executive Secretary, and he in Kraft Mill Management. They married in 1951 and their three children were born while they lived in the View Ridge neighborhood, where many lifelong friendships began.
After moving to the Eastmont area, and retiring along with Dale, they began to fulfill their dreams of world travel. After numerous journeys to places such as Great Britain, Europe, Scandinavia, Spain, Portugal, Australia, New Zealand, and, eventually, winters spent in either Puerto Vallarta or Palm Desert, friends would tell Farilyn she should open her own Travel Agency!
She was an organizer extraordinaire, a seamstress beyond compare, an early fan of Nouvelle Cuisine, a lover of the arts and a passionate gardener!
She gave tirelessly to associations she belonged to during her life: Beta Sigma Phi, Everett Assistance League, and KAPS (Kidney Auxiliary of Puget Sound).
Farilyn adored her children and grandchildren, and valued her close friends. She will be remembered for her beautiful singing voice, sense of style, passion for holiday decorating and gatherings, hours-long shopping expeditions, but mostly for her love of gardening!
Even though she and Dale were longtime Tyee Club Husky Football ticket holders, they managed to raise three diehard WSU Cougar children, and one Cougar Grand-daughter. At annual Apple Cup Games they always cheered for the Cougs!
Farilyn was preceded in death by her father Arnold Lester Erickson, mother Ena Erickson, brother-in-law Lyle Vick, and sister-in-law Connie Vick Dixon.
She leaves behind her beloved husband of 59 years, Dale Vick; daughters Cami Vick-Dimes (Ricky Dimes), Cori Vick (Greg Barnett); son Monte Vick (Suzanne); grandchildren Ashley Vick, Kyle Vick, Gregory Barnett, Matthew Barnett, sister Marilyn Larson (Ed), cousin Marlys Southard (R.B.), sister-in-law Betty Vick, numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
Private services will be held for Farilyn per her request. Remembrances may be made in her name to KAPS (Kidney Auxiliary of Puget Sound), PO Box 2803, Everett, WA 98213, or Providence Cancer Center, PO BOX 1067 Everett, WA 98206
Arrangements under the direction of Purdy & Walters with Cassidy Funeral Home, Everett, WA.
