To the Hayes family,
It is so hard to understand the loss of someone so special. Knowing Jim for 48 years was truly a gift from God.  He always made me feel so appreciated and loved each time I got to see him. I walked away from his memorial service thinking that one of my goals in life was to try to be more like him. I know I speak for many friends from the early Immaculate days when I say that we will carry him always in our broken hearts. My prayers and thoughts are with you.

Jimmy has been a very wonderful friend for the past 21 years I have known him. We would golf, have drinks and always it was a sincere and quality time together. We have seen each other thru some rough times in both of our lives, because of how gentle and honest Jimmy was made me always feel we spent true quality time with a  great friend. I know I will never find that level of friendship again. he was one of a kind !!!

What a wonderful and terribly sad send off yesterday! Although my heart is breaking I'm also very proud to say that Jimmy was my cousin and held such a special place in my life.  What a tribute to him with the whole church packed with friends and family that loved him. After loosing Raymond and Johnny and our mother's, I know first hand the strength and comfort we gain from our family at such a difficult time. I have frog eyes today but will keep Jimmy's memory close to my heart until we meet again.

Jim I cant believe you are really gone, iam so glad that we had gotten together all the times we did these last couple years. Our talks about our first meeting in 9th grade!! We quickly became good friends and stayed that all these years even when losing touch. I will miss our drinks together, our talks together, our laughs together, your beautiful eyes, i will miss you! Jim Hayes, my date to my very first Everett High "Tolo" dance, we double dated with my sister Kathy and her date John C. I still have the picture taken from that night we were so young must have been all of 15 yrs. old . 
Reading your guest book , recognizing so many familar names , it's obvious you have stayed in touch with a lot of class mates and you will be greatly missed , you were truely Blessed .

Jim had the best smile, was a good man and we will miss seeing him.  Our prayers go out to his family.

I had the pleasure of working with Jim for many years at Friendly Distributors.  He was a hard worker, he was a great guy. Jim-you will be sorely missed my friend.

I cannot believe this. When i think of jimmy, i think of tri cities, the depot, superbowl parties and all the fun all are friends had together. The memories go on and on. I can still picture his face and his blue eyes. he was a kind and gentle person.He was a good brother and your best friend.he was an angel." i am very sorry i did not get to say good bye.

Jimmy was one of the nicest persons I have ever known. I could always count on a hug and a big smile from him. He was so pleasant to talk with, he never had a bad word to say about anyone. I will miss him terribly.  He had, and always will have a special place in my heart.

Jimmy was a very special person to me. My late husband knew him and talked about what a great guy he was long before I ever met him. Sadly, I finally met Jimmy at my husbands memorial service. I was so glad he came and we were friends from then on. I will truely miss his kindness. Have one with Richard, Jimmy, love you both always.

I will always have Jim in my heart; I'll remember that glint in your eye and your smile.  50 years is a long time to know someone.  We have lost many friends in the last few years.  This one especially hurts.  Love you.

I knew Jim from the Elks.  It was fun to share a beer or two with him and talk about people and life in Everett. I always enjoyed seeing him and swapping stories.  He was a genuine good man.  My condolences to his entire family.

Helloooo Baby...I will miss this greeting. I feel so blessed to have been a part of your life. Your a gentle soul, a funny guy, a boston sports freak and a friend to many. Our lunch just two weeks ago will be forever branded in my thoughts as we shared a tear and a smile together. There is and always will be ONE Jim Hayes.  Your impact and influence on your brother and those you loved dearly will keep your memory alive forever.

We are so sorry to hear of Jim's passing, he was a wonderful, kind man..

Jim,
First you talked me into going to a Mariners game that I was so not interested in, just because there was an extra ticket.  Everyone else was so sorry… you just let my bad mood roll off with a laugh and a hug.  Then you agreed to fly with Scott & I to San Diego for a Hydro race @ Mission Bay, knowing how I could be, and not knowing for sure where you would be laying your head, as we were staying with Scott’s sister… What a trip that was!  It was our first time flying, and you showed us the ropes… I have never forgotten the experience, which included several more firsts.. driving to Mexico in a rental car, the San Diego Zoo, body surfing in the Ocean, watching you eat very large quantities of food that I had no idea where you put it, and your amazing driving skills getting us back to the airport in rush hour traffic in time to catch our plane.  

I’m sorry I won’t get to tell you about my recent visit to that city. Emily got tired of me saying “When Dad & I were here with Jim in 1981…”.  Whenever we go down there to visit her you would have been on our minds anyway, but there will now be an added poignancy to the memories.

We haven’t seen much of each other in the last several years, but whenever we did chance to meet, you were always quick with a smile, joyful laugh, twinkle in your eye and a welcoming hug.  We will miss you very much my friend.  May you rest in peace..

 I always looked forward to Seafair Sunday when Jim would run out to the car to join us for  "a day in the park". We would tell stories and laugh and make fools of ourselves as you can only do with good friends. I love you and I'll miss you Jimmy.

My thoughts are with the Hayes family and Jim's community of friends.  I hope you all find your strength in God's promise and beautiful memories.  My heart aches with this loss.  Measure a man by his compassion, selflessness and integrity.  In that regard, my good friend Jim was a giant.  I will miss him very much. Jim was the kindness, gentlest of souls. He truly was the best of us! We should all be so kind.  A Gentleman in every sense.  We were lucky to have him as our friend.  Let his memory be an inspiration.  Jim was my friend from way back. I have so many outstanding memories of us growing up. He was the best roommate a person could ask for and I am proud that he was groomsman at my wedding. We will miss his friendship. For those who remember Howie, this is for you Jimmy, "how ya doin". You were one of the most genuine, strongest, and the most wonderful man I have ever met.  I am truly lucky and blessed to have had you as an uncle.  I will miss your hilarious sense of humor, your laugh, and our playful banters :) Also I will miss our heartfelt conversations and I will cherish them forever.  Although this still doesn’t seem completely real to me yet, I can find comfort knowing that you are in heaven with Jesus and Grandma, as well as your friends that have gone before you. I worked with Jimmy throughout the years at Friendly Distributing Inc.  Back in the day, I worked with him in the warehouse, when we were a fairly small distributor.  Those were great times.  I enjoyed working with Jimmy and the highlight of the day was when we'd all kick back some cold ones after work, bs, and have some laughs.  Jimmy was a funny guy with  a kind heart.  I look back on those days with great admiration.  Thanks for laughs, Jimmy.

Dad, you’ve been my hero since the moment I met you when I was 7 years old and I thought you were “a real baseball player” in your Dodger’s jersey.  I will always cherish the memories of our many Red Sox games together.  You were the most kindhearted and compassionate man I have ever known.  You taught me what truly matters in life.  Thanks for making me feel so special and loving me unconditionally everyday.  I will always adore you Pops!  I love you with all of my heart and miss you terribly. Oh what a shock to hear about Jimmy!  He was more than a cousin to me...I'll never forget all the fun we had growing up!  He was so special, soft spoken and a true gentleman.  My heart goes out to the whole Hayes family.  I know he's at peace along with his mom, aunts, uncles and cousins that have gone before him.  What a reunion they must be having.

Oh my. Where to begin? Jim was one of the nicest guys I have ever met. I knew him from Immaculate Conception School when we were young. We reconnected years later. He was a good friend of my late first husband David Borovina. Jim was an usher in our wedding in 1981. We lost touch after David died in 1993, but I always treasured the good memories I had of Jim. He was such a sweet, compassionate soul. My thoughts and prayers are with all of Jim's family and friends at this sad time. Another great guy gone way too soon. Julie
