“Mick”
Max Arthur Craft, born May 8, 1940 in Everett, WA to Arthur and Charlotte Craft, passed away peacefully early Friday morning, February 3, 2012 at his home in Everett, after a long battle with cancer.
Mick was one of the founding members of the “Everett Injectors Car Club”, and spent all of his free time during his teenage years with his head under the hood of a car making sure it was ready for the weekend to “cruse Colby”. He met his future wife Janet Garrioch, while she was working as a car hop at the local A&W. She has often joked that he was the only one who ever left her a decent tip! Mick graduated from Everett High School, Class of 1958.
He was drafted into the US Army in 1959, and served his country for four years. After his discharge, he returned to Everett, and married his sweetheart, Janet. Shortly after that, he began a long proud career as an Operator Engineer with Seattle Local #302. He retired in 1994.
He was a generous, easy going man, who enjoyed hotrods, fishing and hunting trips, being a grandpa, and spending time with his family and many wonderful friends. Mick’s true labor of love throughout his retirement was his ’32 Roadster. He started it from scratch, and worked on it a little at a time over the last several years. Special thanks go out to Tim and Dave Larson, for completing his dream when Mick could no longer work on the Roadster himself.
Mick is survived by his loving wife, Janet Craft; daughter Tammi Brady and her husband Mike; sister Janice Doering, her husband Sonny and her daughter Jennifer; sister-in-law Kathy Jones, brother-in-law Raymond Garrioch and his wife Jeanie; and grandchildren Maggie and Cooper Brady; as well as nieces, nephews, and many wonderful friends who gave him great support and comfort throughout his journey.
A celebration of life will be held from 12:00pm to 2:00 pm on Saturday the 18th of February, 2012, at Legion Hall, located at 145 Alverson Blvd. in Everett, WA. Please join the family for a bite to eat and to share in some camaraderie in Mick’s honor. But, leave your tears at the door; Mick wouldn’t want it any other way.
Memorials in Mick’s name may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or the American Cancer Society. Arrangements entrusted to Purdy & Walters with Cassidy, Everett, 425-252-2191.
