

Stuart passed away peacefully in Everett. He was born in Cambridge Massachusetts on June 3, 1921 to George and Martha Jean French. They moved to Everett Washington in 1925. Graduate of Everett High School in 1939. He joined Hq. co. 3rd batallion 161st Infantry Washington National Guard while in High School; Federalized September 16, 1940; landed on the Beach at Normandy July 4, 1944; wounded August 11, 1944 near Mortain France. He was awarded the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart, which he kept in the back of his desk drawer for 65 years. Stuart was a true hero, but never let it be known how special he was, his family knew.
Stuart Commenced College in the fall of 1946 at Gonzaga University in Spokane Washington and graduated May of 1951 with a J.D. degree. Hired as a prosecuting attorney in 1951, then Private Practice with Gene Hunter and Lloyd Meeds and finally with Joe Meagher and Charles French. Stuart married Edith Ent (deceased) in December 1947 and they raised four children in Everett Washington. In June of 1984, Stuart married Cheri Just and he was and inspiration and wonderful role model to his new sons, Glen, Greg and Jeff Heyman. He was appointed to Superior Court by Dixy Lee Ray and elected at the next General Election, he retired in 1993. Stuart also served as President of the Snohomish County bar Association and on the board of Director's of Deaconess Children's Home and the Everett Gospel Mission. Stuart came out of retirement in 1999 as Vice President of Builder's Exchange of Washington, Inc., Everett and helped shape the company from the start with his honesty and integrity.
He leaves behind his wife Cheri, and his children, Molly (Albert) Mitchell of Spokane, Charles (Diane) French of Everett (deceased), Ann (Kevin) Tate of Mount Vernon, and Mark French (deceased) of Denver Colorado, and Glen and Greg Heyman of Arlington and Jeff Heyman of Monroe; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He also leaves his sister and brother-in-law Helen and Jack Swartz.
Services will be held at 10:00am on Tuesday, July 13 at Purdy & Walters with Cassidy Funeral Home, 1702 Pacific Avenue in Everett. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make memorial donations to "French Memorial Bench" at Union Bank (425) 258-4261.
