On July 7, 1956 in Chicago, Illinois, God looked down at a lovely Lillie in the valley. On this day, he blessed her and her husband Eddie Allen with a bright eyed baby boy. They named him Elliott Delano Allen. Elliott was a very adventurous child. He loved to tinker and figure out how things worked. Most of all, he loved to be with his family when he was not being mischievous with his friends.
Elliott wasn't just curious about life. He was intrigued with God. His faith led him to be baptized at Beautiful Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Chicago, IL. Elliott's pursuit of the Word would follow him throughout all the days of his life.
Elliott loved learning. He spent his early educational years in Chicago Public Schools. He was a graduate of Gage Park High School. His post high school education included certifications in engineering, construction, security and business. Elliott dreamed of someday taking over the family business, the cab/livery services, which he did upon his father's transition. He worked may years alongside of his dad in this service industry.
Elliott had many dreams to come true. He also dreamed about his queen. Elliott always told people he was the son of a king. As the son of a king, he needed a queen to be by his side. At the young age of 15, he met the love of his life, Barbara, whom he fondly called "B". He married his Queen "B" on March 21, 1981.
Elliott yearned to be a good provider for his family. Despite many years in the pursuit of knowledge, skilled trades and the Word, Elliott's greatest achievements was within what he calls "his royal legacy" - "his family". To his family he was known as "Del". Del's legacy includes children - Shatiqua Wilson(Corey) of Louisiana, Delandrae Allen, Anjuan and Keyonatae Mosby Allen of Missouri, Rhonda Carol Taylor of Mississippi, Anisha McBride, Delshandra Demus (Pravion), Jessica McBride, Ida McBride, Ida McBride and Dillion McBride all of Chicago, IL;
His siblings: Marva Henderson of GA, the late Eddie Leon (Kim) Allen of OH, Floyce Allen, of IL, Leslie(Linda) Allen of IL, Regina(the late Tracy) Stingley of IL, Sheila (Philip) Johnson of IL and Jeffrey(Patricia)Allen of IL.
Del was truly a father to many. He extended his love to his many nieces and nephews in the same way that he adored his own children. Del's appreciation for family was exhibited in his role as a son. "I will always love my momma" are not mere song lyrics for Del. Del devoted the last 14 years of his life to being a caregiver for his mom.
Del also leaves 22 grandchildren to cherish his memory: Deljane, Lil Andre, Zodia, Zanthony, Kieran, Alacia, Teshona, Lamariona, Jeanine, Pravion Jr., Lil Corey, Messiah Jr., Davion, Emage, Cole, Akira, Keyontae Jr., Mariah, Praviona, Dallas, Dajeiona. He was the proud great grandfather of Daven, who also entered this world during the glorious month of July, 2015.
Del left this world behind and joined God's army at 6am October 20, 2015. His final words to his mother were "I love you mama". His final request was :Take care of my mama"
