George Amos Oliver was born in Nodena Arkansas on November 10, 1954 to Ms. Lillie Mae Oliver who preceded him in death and Paul R. Morris. He confessed Christ at an early age where he was baptized at the age of 13 and became a member of First Immanuel Lutheran Church of Chicago, under the Leadership of Pastor Donald Becker.
George attended Lane Tech H.S. where is graduated in 1972. He then went on to continue his education at Concordia College in Moorehead, Minnesota where he graduated in 1976 with a Bachelor of Science in History. He also received a Master of Arts in Education from Concordia University in River Forest, Illinois in 2009.
George worked for the University of Illinois at Chicago for 21 years before accepting a teaching position at Country Club Hills School District 160 where he worked at Southwood Middle School and then Meadowview School where he gave a total of 10 years of service.
George was a lover of all children. No greater joy he had than being surrounded by them. He was a mentor to various children, some of whom he taught. His influence was so great that one student recommended him to be entered into the book of Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers, where he was accepted in the year 2005-2006. Any one who came in contact with George could do nothing but love him. If you ever needed anything all you had to do was call him and he would give it to you. George was also a great listener. He often counseled others if they had a problem, giving the answer that was needed, not necessarily the answer that they wanted. He also loved to fish, travel, play Bid Whist and spend time with family and friends. He will be greatly missed.
He leaves to cherish his memory: 1 daughter Tamika Oliver; 1 granddaughter, Madison Hinton; 1 brother, Omarr A. Bush; 3 Aunts, Elizabeth Matthews (Clifford), Loretta Mitchell, Lasharn D. Newbill (James), 1 step aunt, Shirley Martin (Ronnie) 2 Godchildren, Kimberly Marsh (George), Deon Maxwell (Kim), 2 very close friends Robert Woten(Kathy) and Renne Winford, and a host of family and friends.
