John A. Chesta, 68 years old, much loved husband of 42 years of Audrey, nee Lencki, proud father of John (Carolyn), Mark (Kelly) and Julie (Jake) Novak, and adored Grandpa of Sydney, Abigail, Evan, Delaney, Piper, Elwood, Emmett and the late Charlie John. Loving son of the late John and Helen, nee Tumavick. Dear brother of Michael (Cindy). John peacefully passed away Wednesday evening in the comfort of his home. John’s joie de vivre endured even while battling prostate cancer – he loved skiing and traveling (both abroad and around town with the top down), seeking out adventurous food and wine, kicking back to Jimmy Buffet and the occasional margarita, and probably found that lost shaker of salt. John proudly followed in his father’s footsteps and was a pharmacist for 45 years – it was a career well suited for his outgoing personality. John leant a hand to anyone asking, and always came prepared, be it with a box of tools, a pertinent article, or even a quirky comic when he knew a laugh was the best help. Even when his strength faltered, John would still open the door for his wife and pull out her chair. John loved his family so much, and was a loving father and proud dad to all three of his children. He also said that he had six children because he loved the spouses of his two sons and daughter as much as his own. John’s boundless love and energy was perhaps only matched by that of his grandchildren, for whom he would always devise new magic tricks, stories, and games which the kids relished as much as Grandpa did. A celebration of John’s life will begin Monday, August 2, 2010, 9:45 AM from KENNY BROTHERS, 3600 W. 95th St., Evergreen Park, IL to Most Holy Redeemer Church, 96th Street and Lawndale Ave., Evergreen Park.
