

As a child, Larry was extremely shy but always loved reading and dreamed of becoming a writer. He attended Hookway Elementary School and graduated from Hirsch High School in 1966. After high school he was employed by Harris Bank, and later, with the Chicago Tribune, where he continued to foster his dream of becoming a writer. In 1978 Larry received the distinguished honor of becoming a published author under Vantage Press, Inc. for his work, Genesis of Love: Poems. He was extremely proud and encouraged to pursue his craft. This work dwells on the importance of love that transcends life and death and embraces all humankind. Throughout his life, Larry’s compassion for the human condition was evident. He helped a great number of people in tremendous ways.
Larry had many loves in his life. He had an unquenchable thirst for knowledge, the love of good music, and he enjoyed caring for young people. Larry was a unique, vibrant, and a colorful person with a radical spirit. He was intelligent, charismatic, engaging and was definitely willing to share his thoughts and experiences generously. He will be remembered and deeply missed.
Larry departed this life on Tuesday March 3, 2015 at 2:55 p.m.
In 1991, he was preceded in death by his father Edward Harding.
He leaves to cherish his fond memories, a loving mother Ella Harding; devoted daughters, Ashanti Harding and Nesha Breashears (Reggie); former wife and friend Patricia “Fayomi Falade” Harding; beloved brothers Tyrone Harding (Deanna), Edwin Harding (Ingrid), Wayman Harding (Jean), Winston Harding (Delores) and Jerry Harding (Denise); treasured sisters Barbara Jean Pinkey (Bill) and Sharon Bacon (Ron); cherished grandchildren, Aisha Harding, Julia Davis, Phyliscia Davis, Shantel White, Darryl White, and Nyah Breashears; six great grandchildren, and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, Godchildren, and friends.
