O'Lura ("Lura") was born on December 27, 1960 in Chicago, IL where she resided much of her life. Lura relocated to southern California in 1990, but returned to the Chicago area in 2011. While in California, she was briefly married to Barry Washington.
Lura graduated from Gage Park High School in Chicago before going on to become a certified nursing assistant, a career which she maintained for many years in both Chicago and San Diego until health concerns forced her to retire.
Lura did not have any children of her own but she always referred to her nieces and nephews as "her babies." She had a unique and special bond with her nephew, Gabe, who she called "her son."
Lura made her transition to be with the Lord on Friday, April 10, 2015.
She leaves to cherish her memories: her siblings - Pamela Abdul-Hakim, Thomas Williams, James Williams, Peggy Williams, and Patricia Allen (Jeffrey), her loving nephew Gabe, her caregivers, host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends. Rest in peace.
