James Kenneth Earnest

EARNEST, James Kenneth “Jim”, “Papa” 79 of Enon, passed away Saturday, April 29, 2023. Jim was born January 20, 1944 in Port Clinton, Ohio to the late Kenneth Hoyle and Elizabeth Eileen (LesJack) Earnest, also preceding him in death was his beloved wife of 38 years Mary Leona "Lee" (Niemeier) Earnest in 2013.

Jim leaves to cherish his memory, son Ken (Marie) Earnest, daughter Eileen (Scott) Earnest-Miller; grandchildren Sophie and Xavier.

He was a US Air Force veteran and was a vehicle maintenance facility manager for the US Postal Service, retiring after 43 years of dedicated service. After retiring, he enjoyed traveling with family, cooking, and driving his golf cart around Enon. Jim loved feeding the neighborhood dogs, loved NASCAR, Indy Car and racing in general. He was a friend to everyone and when you left his home, you never left hungry. Jim loved his family and was a very proud grandpa.

There will be a visitation at Burcham Tobias Funeral Home, 119 East Main Street, Fairborn, Ohio Friday, May 19, 2023, starting at 10:00 am with services to follow at 12:00 pm. Jim was an avid enthusiast of learning and nature, so contributions may be made to the Enon Library or you may plant a tree in Jim's memory. “It is, what it is”.

Jim will be interred with his beloved Lee, at 1:00 pm Thursday, June 1, 2023, in the Dayton National Cemetery, 4400 West Third Street, Dayton, Ohio 45428.
