

Ramona Peña Calvert-Gwin, age 60 of Dayton, passed away at Hospice of Dayton on Friday, December 1, 2017. She was preceded in death by her beloved adoptive father, Dr. Jack Calvert; and her aunt, Judith Behrens. Ramona is survived by her mother, Jeannine Calvert; brother, Michael Calvert; sister, Monica Calvert Hawn (Michael Hawn); sons, Jack Gwin (Chelsea Gwin) and Dean Gwin (Audrey Gwin); step-grandson, Eli Rowe; soulmate, Gary Gwin; and biological father, Guadalupe Peña. Born in Davenport, IA in 1956, Mona was raised in her beloved Dallas, TX. Her heart was deep in the heart of Texas. To know her was to love her, and her family was her life. She had many friends and could make a connection with anyone. She was the first person to open up a nails only business in Dayton, Mona’s Nails, and she loved her clients. Mona fought a courageous battle against cancer until her last breath. Per her wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral. Instead, a Celebration of Life will be held after the holidays on January 2, 2018 at 6:00 PM at SouthBrook Christian Church, 9095 Washington Church Rd. Miamisburg, OH 45342. A Gathering of Friends and Family will follow from 6:30 PM to 9:00 PM at the church. Contributions in her memory can be made to Hospice of Dayton or the American Cancer Association.
