Smith, Homer Lee, Sr. 84 passed away Wednesday, October 7, 2015. He was a retired Army Veteran serving in Korea & two terms in Viet Nam which was equivalent to 44 months of combat duty. He was a member of C Co 559th Combat Engineer Battalion Song pau, Viet Nam1969, KY Colonel, He had been a pastor of Sun Valley General Baptist Church & Hilltop General Baptist Church and he was also a member of Sun Valley General Baptist. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry & Ardith Smith and brother, Bobby Gene Smith. He leaves to cherish his memories, his wife of 61 years, the former Kay Gibson, son, Homer Lee, Jr., daughter, Deborah K. Williams (Darrell), Teresa D. Smith, son, David M. (Kathy Ann), grandchildren, Brandon, Samantha, Mandy, D.J. & Katie, great grandchildren, Zoey & Zane, brother, Henry & sisters Lillian & Anna Gayle and also survived by several nieces & nephews. Special thanks to Dr. Nagy & Staff at St Mary & Elizabeth Hospital for their care & concern. Visitation will be Sunday 1-6PM at Fairdale-McDaniel Funeral Home & Cremation Services. Funeral service will be 11AM Monday with Rev. Bill McGennis officiating. Burial will be following service in KY Veterans Cemetery in Fort Knox.
