I see the names of so many friends in these memories of Bernie.  We all remember him the same way.  Professional, dedicated, kind, smart, helpful and about as sweet as a person can be.  I joined JMD in 1976 and Bernie's office was next to mine.  He helped get me oriented and answered so many questions.  Deepest sympathy to everyone in this loss, especially Barbara and Robyn.  

I met Bernie many years ago, while employed with the Finance Staff, JMD.  He was a very kind man and great to talk to.

My prayers are with the family.  Just know that Bernie touched many, many lives.  He was greatly loved and his smile and laughter would light up any room and heart.  

May precious memories and God's holy presence surround you with comfort, love and peace.  God bless you.

Bernie was one of my first work colleagues when I started at the Department of Justice in 1974 in the Records Section on the 6th floor of Main Justice. He was an outstanding civil servant, always meticulous in his work and ready to help a newcomer--or anyone else who required assistance.

I met Bernie when I first joined the Department in August 1980.  I valued his mentorship and how he modeled professionalism in all he did. I have kept lessons learned from his examples throughout my career.  I am saddened by his passing. I offer condolences to his family.  

I was saddened to learn of Bernard's passing.  I always was happy to see and visit with  him and Barbara at Fairfax Baptist Church .  They always had a smile and a good word to share.

Bernie and I were classmates and friends in Jemtland, Maine.-Great memories!  I well remember Bernie and his brother Carl singing on the Loring TV station in 1957.  One of the songs was "Dust on the Bible".  Since Swedish was the language in the Berglind home the only two words Bernie knew in English starting 1st grade were "hello and goodby".  Bernie sang every morning to his teacher, Hazel (Page) Olson "You are my Sunshine".  One memory mentioned to me was that in the Justice Dept. Bernie briefed Attorney General Janet Reno. Bernie overcame many obstacles in his lifetime, especially physical ones, and always had a wonderful attitude and disposition.  What a special friend Bernie was!

Bernie was one of the kindest people I have ever had the pleasure to meet. Anytime we crossed paths, we would stop and talk about life, family, or whatever we had going on that day, and he always did so with a smile on his face. 

Although there was a significant age gap between me and Bernie, he never made me feel that way. I always felt like we were best friends. I would often ask him about different life experiences to draw upon his wisdom and he would always share many things that made me a more well rounded young man.

Bernie, is someone I loved as a person and someone that I would do anything for - he was just that type of man. He loved his family and adored his wife Barb.

In closing, I will miss you Bernie, but I will look to all the fond memories we shared over the years to find peace. I hope his family is able to do the same, as my thoughts and prayers are with them during this time.

Our love to Barbara and Robyn. Bernard will be dearly missed by all. There are to many memories to list all. All the singing times we have had as a family. I remember when we would go to his mother, Esther's  house when along with Barbara,  Bernie and his brothers would play music while us kids danced.  One special memory is when Bernard bought pizza and brought it to our home. I was young but will never forget that evening.  We had never had pizza and what a treat that was. I also remember how he had to go back to Caribou for more as we were a large family and everyone was crazy for the new treat.  We love you Bernie and as I said you will be dearly missed. Spoke to him last Saturday when I called and even being sick he had a cheerful  greeting and had his familiar laughed.  Barbara and Robyn, we will always be here for you. Love you lots.
