

Bernard Olivett Berryman, Sr. (Bob) was born on January 5, 1939, in Prince Edward County, Va. to the late Everett L. Berryman and Flossie Madison Berryman. He was the youngest of ten children, all who preceded him in death. He went home to be with the Lord on November 3, 2020 at Inova Fairfax Hospital, Va.
Bob committed is life to serving the Lord at a young age. He attended school in Prince Edward County, VA. Bob began working at the Washington Golf and Country Club (WGCC) in 1959 at the age of 19. He worked there until he retired March 2020. While working at WGCC, he established a close bond and rapport with the club’s members and associates. He became an avid golfer, often participating and winning many tournaments playing with WGCC members. He was presented many trophies acknowledging his many achievement on the golf course. In May 2011 he was given a ceremony for Recognition and Appreciation for 52 years of Service. Everyone loved and respected him. He started as a Custodian, then transferred to various jobs, most notable for working at the 9th Tee, where he perfected his golf swing. In 1984 Bob was reassigned to the Men’s Locker Room Steward Position. There are many fond memories of Bob at WGCC, most notably Captoria “Cappy” Jenkins, who taught him the ropes and named his second daughter, Melanie.
He “loved” the holidays, especially “Christmas and Thanksgiving”. He enjoyed showering his children and grandchildren with gifts. Bob had a beautiful tenor voice, and he could “cut a rug” on the dance floor and he was an excellent cook. His upbeat demeanor and laid-back attitude brought happiness and ease to everyone.
Bob leaves to cherish his precious memories love and kindness to his wife of twenty-four years Barbara Ann Berryman, Former wife, and friend Ann L. Berryman. Six children; Wanda P. Shannon(Calvin), Melanie Berryman Gordon(Paul dec.) Bernard O. Berryman, Jr. (Roneca), Tyrone(dec.), Rachel, Dante; Twelve-grandchildren; Maurice, Dominque, Tynisha, Whitney, Ronnie, Tishana, Donnell, Tiara, Keona, Taquana, Christian, De’asija, and a host of other relatives and friends.
