
Kent Winfield Long, 90, of Annandale, Virginia passed away on January 4, 2022 in Springfield, Virginia. Devoted husband to his wife of 61 years, Eileen. Beloved father to his sons Kevin Long (Annette) of Vienna, Virginia, Kent Long (Corrie) of Wetumpka, Alabama, and daughter Karen Peterson (Steven) of Fairfax Station, Virginia. Loving grandfather to Stephen, Spencer and Daniel Long and Caleb and Logan Peterson. Great grandfather to Emmett Peterson. Dear cousin to Carole Schrum and Cheryl Wytrwal both of Davidsville, Pennsylvania. He is predeceased by his parents and infant sister, Linda.
Kent was born on February 12, 1931 in Johnstown, Pennsylvania to Clyde and Edna Long. He was drafted into the Korean War and upon his honorable discharge from the United States Army at the rank of Seargent First Class he attended the University of Pittsburgh. After graduation he went to work for the Central Intelligence Agency where he spent his entire career of 30 years as an Operations Officer.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11am on January 28, 2022 at Nativity Catholic Church in Burke, Virginia immediately followed by Interment at Quantico National Cemetery with military honors. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made in Kent’s honor to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital
