

Laurence Vaughan Purvis Laurence Vaughan Purvis, 69, of Chantilly, Virginia, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 17, 2015 surrounded by his wife of 41 years, Nancy, and his four children: Tom, Katie, Brad, Tim and his brother David. Born in South Shields, England to Stanley and Phyllis Purvis he spent his childhood in England. After finishing his education and earning his professional certifications as a quantity surveyor, he moved to North America spending most of his adult life in Northern Virginia. He worked at Jacobs Engineering for 25 years before retiring in 2013. Laurie belonged to various groups and organizations in his life, including the Boy Scouts with his 3 sons. He enjoyed cooking, playing golf, model making, reading, listening to music, had a love of history and love of animals. He loved spending time at the Outer Banks each year. He will be remembered most for his caring heart, sense of humor, infectious laugh and love for his family. Laurie was extremely proud of his family and is survived by his loving wife Nancy, as well as his four children. Tom Purvis and wife Lori, Katie Cusson and her husband Adam, sons Bradley and Tim Purvis. Adoring Grandchildren, Ryan, Alexis, Hunter and Cooper. He is also survived by his brother David Purvis and his wife June, and their two children Julie and Alison from Toronto, Canada. Other survivors include his mother-in-law, Virginia Cleveland from Eldorado, Illinois. He is also survived by brother in-laws, sister in-laws, nieces, nephews and friends. A Memorial Visitation will take place Friday, April 24, 2015 from 4-8pm at Demaine Funeral Home in Fairfax, Virginia. A Celebration of Life service will take place on Saturday, April 25, 2015 starting at 11am at Demaine Funeral Home in Fairfax, Virginia.
