Mary Jane Munday

Mary Jane Munday of Warrenton, Virginia, beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, passed away on Friday, May 10, 2024. Mary Jane was born in Fairfax County on April 19, 1947, to the late Mary Ann Robertson and Didier Charles Pfalzgraf. She married Thomas Lee Munday in 1967 who preceded her in death after 50 years of marriage. Mary Jane worked for several years as a bookkeeper and office manager at Fairfax Memorial Park in Fairfax and Merrifield Garden Center in Falls Church. She touched many people with her love, humor, and generosity. She is survived by her children Thomas L. Munday, Jr. (Terri) and Stephen T. Munday (Kristin); grandchildren Timothy L. Munday, Marina L. Bassler (AJ), and Caleb S. J. Munday; great grandchildren Kaiyah, Canaan, and Norah Bassler; sisters Rebecca Proffitt and Betty Marshall (Ronnie), and brother Didier C. “Dion” Pfalzgraf, Jr. (Alice); and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by sister Carolyn Goad. The family would like to thank her dear lifelong friend Brenda Joyce Tarrall, caregiver Mercy Mensah, and the Hospice of Piedmont nursing staff for the care and compassion they showed Mary Jane in her final days. Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Friday, May 24th at Demaine Funeral Home – Fairfax from 11 AM – 12:30 PM. A funeral service will take place at 12:30 PM followed by interment at Fairfax City Cemetery.
