In Fairfax, Virginia, on October 11, 2015, James Patrick McAndrews II passed away peacefully surrounded by his family. He was 86 and had a good life. He achieved professional success as an attorney with Thompson Hine and Benesch Friedlander Coplan & Aronoff. He was instrumental in founding the American College of Real Estate Lawyers. However, he derived the greatest pride from raising his children and supporting them in Catholic schools from kindergarten to college. His loving wife of 61 years, Mona Marie (Steinke) McAndrews, peacefully joined him in Heaven on October 15, 2015. She was the youngest of 11 children, born on a farm in Rhine, Ohio. She was gentle soul with a quick smile. She was an experienced hospital nurse, and actively supported Catholic schools in the Cleveland, Ohio, diocese, serving as President of the diocesan Parent Teacher League. Together they raised 8 children, who continue to live on with their memories close at heart. They are James (Patricia Boos) of Arlington, VA, George (Julie Sanfilippo) of Vienna, VA, Catherine of Spotsylvania, VA, Joseph (Sharon Barczy) of McKees Rock, PA, Anne Marie (Deborah McKone) of Portsmouth, RI, Michael (Kimberly Madison) of Lake Ridge, VA, Edward (Lisa D’Argenio) of Eldersburg, MD, and Daniel (Lori Hosler) of Arlington, VA. They also leave 22 grandchildren, with whom they loved to spend time as often as possible. While we mourn their passing, we celebrate the lives they lived! They continue to be an inspiration to all of us. The family will receive friends and family at the Demaine Funeral Home, at 10565 Main Street, Fairfax, VA 22030, on Friday, October 23rd, 6:00 – 8:00 pm. Funeral services will be held St. Timothy Catholic Church, 13807 Poplar Tree Road, Chantilly, VA, on October 24th, at 11:00 am. Interment will occur at Arlington Cemetery, for immediate family.
