Age 78, of Fairfax, formerly of New Castle, PA, died April 11th; beloved wife of J.J. FitzGerald, and sister of Eddie (Linda) and Victor, and beloved aunt to Dan (Belinda), Doug (Jamie) and Greg (Debbie) Caggiano. After graduating from Youngstown State and serving in the homecoming court in 1968, Patty taught high school English and coached the cheerleading squad at Union High School in Rimersburg, PA. Patty then trained to be a flight attendant with American Airlines and flew domestic flights for 24 years, building lifelong friendships with a group of flight attendants called “Kiwis.”
In the 1980s Patty became a real estate agent, first with Town and Country and then with Long and Foster, selling many dozens of homes to clients throughout Northern Virginia over a career spanning 40 years, including clients who sought her out repeatedly. Patty was a prolific agent who often marketed homes in her beloved Great Oaks, where she was an original owner in the development.
Patty and J.J. enjoyed happy hours with close friends, fine dining, international travel, including to their beloved St. Maarten, and they were active volunteers in their neighborhood.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
