

On the morning of October 5, 2020, Paul Henry Oeltjenbruns of Fairfax Va. passed away at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, Bethesda Md. Paul was 86 years old.
Paul was born on December 8, 1933, the son of Henry and Clara (Ohloff) Oeltjenbruns. Paul grew up in the small town of Swaledale, Iowa and worked on the family farm. He enlisted in the US Navy in 1953 and served for 20 years before retiring with an Honorable Discharge at the rank of Chief Petty Officer in 1973. While in the Navy and stationed in Taiwan he met his wife Chin-Tzu, and they married in 1961 and welcomed daughter Jeannie in 1963. Shortly after retiring from the Navy, Paul decided to return to work, this time for the United States Postal Service as a Special Delivery Carrier and retiring after 20 years of service.
Paul was a quiet, gentle, caring man who was always looking out for his family. Although he was a man of very few words, he always acknowledged their successes and provided guidance and support when needed. He really enjoyed some good-natured teasing with his daughter and grandchildren. He enjoyed camping, boating, fishing, and crabbing at the Naval Recreation Center in Solomons Island Md. Paul also enjoyed going to bingo and casinos, where he was quite lucky to hit a few jackpots.
Paul’s beloved wife of 60 years, Chin-Tzu, went to join him on October 19, 2023.
He is survived by his daughter Jeannie Timmons, her husband James Timmons, and their children Jessica Timmons (Colin Matthews) and Joshua Timmons.
Paul Oeltjenbruns was preceded in death by his parents, sisters; Ruth Oeltjenbruns, Ethel Wagner, Irene Mehman and Betty Begey, and brothers; Harold, James, and Merle Oeltjenbruns.
His family really appreciates the loving staff of Walter Reed National Military Medical Center for taking care of Paul in his final days, honoring him with their final salute and their compassion for our family.
The family has entrusted Paul to Demaine Funeral Home in Fairfax, Virginia.
Paul will be interred with his wife Chin-Tzu at Arlington National Cemetery at a future date.

On the evening of October 19, 2023, Chin-Tzu Oeltjenbruns of Fairfax Va. Passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her loving family. Chin-Tzu was 89 years old.
Chin-Tzu was born on November 16, 1933, in Taipei, Taiwan. Chin-Tzu met her husband Paul while he was in the Navy stationed in Taiwan. They married in 1961 and welcomed daughter Jeannie in 1963. Chin-Tzu came to America with Paul and Jeannie in 1967 and in 1972 she received her Citizenship of Naturalization.
Chin-Tzu was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who was happiest when the family was together.
She was a great cook and loved preparing meals for the family. She was an avid gardener and loved taking photographs. She also enjoyed playing Bingo and traveling with her husband Paul.
Chin-Tzu Oeltjenbruns is survived by her daughter Jeannie Timmons, her husband James Timmons, and their children Jessica Timmons (Colin Matthews) and Joshua Timmons.
The love of her life, Paul, passed away in 2020.
The family has entrusted Chin-Tzu to Demaine Funeral Home in Fairfax, Virginia.
Chin-Tzu will be interred with her husband Paul at Arlington National Cemetery at a future date.
A Celebration of Life for both Paul and Chin-Tzu will be held at 1:00pm on Saturday, November 4, 2023 at Demaine Funeral Home in Fairfax.
