Ray was preceded in death by his loving wife of 58 years Rosemary Wierbowski Mataloni, son, Raymond, Jr., daughter Kelly Anne Beck and sister, Mary G. Mataloni Oleniak. He is survived by his nephews, Leo and Larry; nieces Sandra and Michelle; grandsons Alex and Ben, and his daughter in law, Lisa.
Ray graduated from Pittston Township High School in 1952. He served in the Navy, 1953 to 1957, Navy Reserves, 1957 to 1962. He received his bachelor’s degree from University of Scranton and PhD from American University in 1971. Ray was elected to Fellow Status in 1993, Elected Scientist of the Year in 2008 and received the Career Achievement Award, Innovation to the Defense and Intelligence Community in 2010. Ray worked as a physicist and retired in 2010.
Ray will be remembered and honored privately by his family at this time.
