
Susan Rosemary Stahler, left us peacefully on January 27, 2025, at the age of 73. Susan was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend whose warmth, kindness, and generous spirit touched the lives of all who knew her.
Born on April 20, 1951 in Taunton, Somerset, England, Susan was the daughter of Florence Ellis Moore and Arthur David Moore. She grew up in Somerset, in southwest England, but quickly developed a deep love for travel, which she carried with her throughout her life. She would often travel Europe with her parents visiting France, Portugal, Austria, Germany, and Switzerland. At the age of 19, Susan moved to Palma de Mallorca, Spain, wheA memorial service for Susan will be held Thursday, February 6, 2025 at 11:00 AM at St. Mary of Sorrows Historic Church, 5612 Ox Road, Fairfax Station, VA 22039.re she worked for a number of years at a travel company before meeting her American husband, Bill, in Palma de Mallorca. Susan and Bill were married in Taunton on April 3, 1976 and relocated to the United States.
Susan was a devoted Navy wife for 26 years and, after staying home managing the household, rejoined the workforce committing herself to education, working for Fairfax County Public Schools on the administrative side for 22 years. Upon retirement, she loved to travel with her husband with trips to Alaska, Canada, Hawaii, Spain, and the United Kingdom. Susan was also passionate about sewing and gardening, her yard resembled the most beautiful of English gardens.
A devoted mother, Susan was a constant source of support, encouragement, and love for her daughter, Sarah. She cherished her role as a grandmother to Owen and Sloane. Her family was always at the center of her heart. Susan’s nurturing nature extended beyond her immediate family, as she was a steadfast friend to many, offering a listening ear, wise advice, and a compassionate shoulder to lean on.
Susan is survived by her devoted husband William; daughter Sarah Azad (Kamran); grandchildren Owen Azad and Sloane Azad.
Funeral services will be held at St. Mary’s on Thursday, February 6, at 11:00 AM, with reception to follow at Army Navy Country Club Fairfax.
Susan’s passing leaves a void that will be deeply felt, but her legacy will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing her. She will be missed more than words can express.
