Virginia C. Hodgkins was born in Sioux City, Iowa to David and Matilda Loepp on April 4, 1932. She married Ernest F. Hodgkins in February of 1958 in Boston, Massachusetts. She graduated from the University of Iowa. She worked as a flight attendant for Pan American Airways for three years during the Golden Age of Flight, the propeller years of 1955-1957. She taught dance on Miami Beach in 1955. She taught ballet to children for many years in the 1970s. She also created and taught a Flight Attendant class at Northern Virginia Community College and for Adult Education for Fairfax County. She was involved in World Wings, an alumni club for all of the people who worked for Pan Am, especially the flight attendants, where they raised money for charities and causes, had great parties, and did volunteer work.
Virginia Claire Hodgkins is preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Francis Hodgkins.
Virginia Claire Hodgkins is survived by her children, Terry, David, Scott, Eric, and Gina Lewis; and six grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, April 4, 2025 at Demaine Funeral Home with Father Joseph of Saint Leo the Great Catholic Church, officiating. Burial will follow at Fairfax Cemetery. Arrangements are by Demaine Funeral Home.
