William Ellsworth Hixenbaugh (age 93) Of Burke, VA passed away peacefully December 24, 2015. Born in Frostburg, MD July 28, 1922 he was a decorated Army Air Corps. Sgt. in the 25th Bomb Squadron in WWII who later worked as an accountant. He was a low handicap golfer who was proud to have had 2 documented holes in one. He was a devoted life long member of the Elks Lodge #2188 in Fairfax, as a charter member and held many leadership positions. He is survived by his wife Martha Hixenbaugh, daughter Shirley Walker, sister Helen Hull, brother Harry Hixenbaugh, 2 step sons, 6 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, 5 great great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his first wife Ethel Hixenbaugh and daughter Billie Alderman. A Memorial Service will be held on January 13, 2016 at 1 pm St. Georges United Methodist Church, 4910 Ox Rd, Fairfax, VA 22030 followed by a reception at the Elks Lodge at 2:30-4:30 pm, 8421 Arlington Blvd, Fairfax, VA 22031 a private interment will be held at a later date in Arlington Cemetery columbarium. In lieu of flowers please make a donation in his name to St. George's United Methodist Church.
