Mr. Helenburg died of heart failure at Fair Oaks Hospital on April 13, 2026. He was born January 24, 1943, in South Bend, IN to Woodrow Robert and Eloise Vera Dixon Helenburg. He is a graduate of Baugo Township High School, Elkhart IN and the Northern Virginia Community College, Annandale VA and is a licensed Professional Engineer. He served in the U.S. Army, Corps of Engineers from November 1966 to September 1972 and performed a tour of duty in the Republic of Vietnam where he was awarded a Bronze Star. He was employed by the Fairfax County Public Schools at the time of his retirement. He was a member of the Fair Oaks Community Church of God, Abrahamic Faith and was a Trustee and Deacon of that Church, Past Secretary of the COG Virginia Conference and Past Chairman of the Church of God General Conference and Atlanta Bible College, GA. He was a member of the Elmer Timerman Masonic Lodge, the Alexandria Valley of the Scottish Rite Southern Jurisdiction and the Hope Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star. He is survived by two sisters, Lisa K. Watts of Corona, CA and Freya L. Flora of Granger, IN. and their families. A private Masonic Service will be held at Demaine Funeral Home on April 22, 2026 from 3:00PM to 4:00PM, followed by a public visitation from 4:00PM to 8:00PM. He will be buried following a graveside funeral service at the National Memorial Park in Falls Church, VA on April 23, 2026 at 11:00AM.
