Karen M. Harding

Karen M. (Mercier) Harding, 62, of New Bedford, passed away on Sunday, January 18, 2026 in St. Luke’s Hospital. Born in Queens, New York, she was the beloved daughter of Barbara (Cunha) Mercier and the late Philip Mercier.

Karen was married for 34 years to her devoted husband, Raymond Harding, with whom she shared a deep and enduring love. A graduate of Greater New Bedford Vocational High School, she dedicated many years of her life to caring for others as a Home Health Aide and CNA for St. Luke's Hospital VNA. Her compassion, generosity, and unwavering commitment to helping those in need touched countless lives.

Karen lived with a vibrant spirit. She loved music, dancing, shopping, and in her younger years, roller-skating at Lincoln Park. She had a natural talent and passion for interior design, always creating warm and welcoming spaces. Family meant everything to her, whether enjoying vacations in Florida, gathering for celebrations, or simply spending time together. She was outgoing, genuine, and authentic, truly one of a kind. Her charitable heart, honesty, and willingness to do anything for others defined who she was. She also found joy in caring for her plants and her beloved dogs.

In addition to her husband Raymond, Karen is survived by her children: David Gonsalves and fiancée Amy Davis of New Bedford; Kerri Harding Dias and husband John of Lawrence; Philip Harding and fiancée Celine Abadie of New Bedford; and Christian Harding and partner Randy Damish of Walpole. She was the cherished grandmother of Lacey Gonsalves and the loving sister of Pamela Oliveira and husband Jim of Dighton; a loving aunt to Nicole Mercier, Ashley Mercier, and Nathan Oliveira; and several cousins. She is predeceased by her brother Richard Mercier.

Her Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 31, 2026, from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m., with a Prayer Service at 1:30 p.m., in the WARING-SULLIVAN HOME AT FAIRLAWN MORTUARY, 180 Washington St., Fairhaven, MA 02719.
