Born in Fairhaven, daughter of the late Manuel and Fannie (Marshall) Medeiros, she had resided in Pembroke for the past 45 years.
Mrs. Thumudo was a graduate of Fairhaven High School and received her Master’s degree in education from Leslie College in Boston.
Mrs. Thumudo was a well-respected English teacher for 10 years at Silverlake Regional High School in Kingston retiring in 1996.
She enjoyed theater, traveling and being a book club member. She had a love for Shakespeare that she shared with all. Mary reunited with her high school sweetheart at their 41st reunion and married 6 weeks later.
She is predeceased by her Sisters Elaine Desouza and Muriel Makara; brothers Donald Medeiros and John Andrews; grandson Nicholas Barnes and great grandson Shea Barnes
Surviving in addition to her husband Mario are her daughters, Joanne Ehrenzeller and husband Paul of Hanover, Heidi Schluter and companion Richard Lumsden of Tewksbury and Nikki Lowe and husband Donald of Hanson; her dearest friend Grace Franco; a brother, Manuel Medeiros and wife Elaine; two sisters, Rosalie Ventor and Anna Hardy all of Fairhaven; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Her graveside service will be held on Monday, July 27, 2020 at 11 a.m. in Riverside Cemetery, 274 Main St., Fairhaven.
