Mary Ryle Walmsley

Mary (Ryle) Walmsley, age 90, of Fairhaven died Sunday, December 12, 2010 at Tobey Hospital in Wareham. Wife of the late Dr. George Walmsley, she leaves her son George Tom Walmsley, her daughter Nancy McNamara and her husband David McNamara and their four sons, James, Sean, Bryan and Daniel of North Attleboro; her beloved brother Arthur Ryle, Jr.; and many nieces, nephews, close friends and neighbors.

Born in Hyde, England, she immigrated to the United States with her mother, father and brothers, James and Wilford in 1923 and settled in Fall River and then Fairhaven. She is a graduate of Fairhaven High School, Class of 1938 and married George Walmsley in 1947 at Good Shepherd Church in Fairhaven after he was honorably discharged from the Army in 1946. They lived in New Bedford and later settled in Fairhaven where she helped support his Veterinary practice at Capeway Veterinary Hospital and raised their two children.

Visiting hours will be held Wednesday, from 7:00-9:00 pm in the Waring-Sullivan Home of Memorial Tribute at Fairlawn, 180 Washington St., Fairhaven, with a Funeral Service on Thursday morning at 10:00 am in Trinity Lutheran Church, 16 Temple Place, Fairhaven.
