He was born on February 19, 1931, in Cecil, OH, to the late Emmett and Marguerite (nee Laymann) Thompson.
Carl proudly served as a radio operator in the United States Air Force, retiring after a distinguished military career. He later retired from Sears, where he continued to demonstrate the same dedication and work ethic. A happy-go-lucky man with a quick wit and a warm smile, he was known for his jokes and lighthearted spirit. He loved going out for dinner, working in the yard, and spending time with those he held dear. Above all, he cherished his family deeply and brought joy to every gathering with his humor and easygoing nature. His legacy of laughter, love, and kindness will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded by two sons: Gary and Michael Thompson; and brothers: George, Charles, and Paul Thompson.
He is survived by his loving wife, Ingrid Victoria (nee Harmon) Thompson, whom he married on May 19, 2005; children: Sharon (Richard) Kuhlmann, Chris Wasser, and Lindsey Wasser; grandchildren: Landry Wasser, Briar Wasser, Dawn Kuhlmann, and Nicole Hayden; great-grandchild, Alex Hayden; and many other grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.
No services will be held at this time.
Contributions in Carl’s memory may be made to Children’s Hospital and Wounded Warriors.
