

Mrs. Stewart was a member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Ladies Auxiliary, Lodge 664. Carol retired from the State of Illinois, EPA, after a career, of over 30 years. She was an avid gambler and loved the slots, especially those at River City Casino. She loved to cook and no one ever went hungry with Carol around. She was a loving mother, and grandmother, who will be truly missed by all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 44 years, William “Bill” Stewart, her parents, David and Hattie, nee Korunka, Mayer; a brother, David Mayer; and three sisters, Betty Esselman, Bernice Halstead, and Marlene Walters.
Surviving are her loving daughters, Lisa (Rick) Baker, of St. Charles, MO and Dina (Scott) Wallace, of O’Fallon, Ill.; her grandchildren, Zane and Quincy Wilken, and Jack and Jenna Wallace; a brother, Bill (Carolyn) Mayer, and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Visitation: Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m., Friday, July 20, 2012, at Lake View Funeral Home, Fairview Heights, Illinois. The Fairview Heights Elk lodge 664, Ladies Auxiliary will hold a Rose Ceremony at 7 p.m., Friday evening.
Funeral: Services will be held at 11a.m., Saturday, July 21, 2012, at the funeral home, with Rev. Doug Stewart officiating. Entombment will be held in Lake View Memorial Garden Mausoleum, Fairview Heights, Illinois.
