Charles CJ Anthony Mendes Fernandes

C.J. was employed with UPS Freight and was a member of the Teamsters Local 600. He graduated from Belleville Township High School East in 1996. He was State Wrestling Qualifier in the 170 lb. division in 1995. His passion for wrestling continued as he became involved in Mixed Martials Arts. C.J. also served his community as a volunteer with the French Village Fire Department. He also, enjoyed watching football especially the New England Patriots. He was a loving husband, father, son, and brother, who will be missed by all who knew him.

Surviving to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Jodi L. Fernandes, nee Vieira, of Belleville, Illinois; his children, Kyle, Trey and Alysia Fernandes; his parents, Charles Anthony Mendes and Linda, nee Free, Fernandes, Sr., of Belleville, Illinois; his brother, Paul (Krystal) Fernandes, of Belleville, Illinois; his father and mother-in-law, John and Janet Vieira, of Salem, Illinois; two sisters-in-law, Jill (Myles) Mayhew and Janie (Jon) McBrayer; three nieces, Selah, Hadassah, and Mollie; a nephew, Camden; and many other relatives and friends.

Visitation: Friends may call from 10 a.m. to 12 Noon, Tuesday, July 11, 2017 at Faith Family Church, 704 N. Green Mount Rd., Shiloh, Illinois.

Funeral: Services will be held at 12 Noon, Tuesday, July 11, 2017 at the church with Pastor Paul Fernandes officiating. Interment will be held privately with Lake View Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home, Fairview Heights, Illinois.
