

Charlton D. Geyer, Jr., CMSgt., Retired, USAF, 80, of Fairview Heights, Illinois, born August 16, 1934, in Newton, Massachusetts, passed away, Thursday, April 23, 2015, at St. Paul’s Home, Belleville, Illinois.
Chuck proudly served his country, retiring from the United States Air Force, after serving 32 years. After retirement he went on to work for the Defense Mapping Agency, in St. Louis, Missouri, as a lithographer. He was a member of the VFW Post 1117, Caseyville, Illinois and the American Legion Post 2910, Bloomington, Illinois. In life, Chuck enjoyed many things; a cold beer, John Wayne movies, Norman Rockwell art, photography, target shooting, reading, brewing beer with his son, and airplanes (Especially the P38-Lockhead Lightning). He also loved Facebook, which allowed him easy access to his grandchildren’s and great grandchildren’s pictures. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother, who will truly be missed by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlton D. Geyer, Sr. and Margaret McGough, nee Burns; a brother, Cliff Geyer; and two sisters, Berniece Hallet and Kay Russell.
Surviving are his loving wife of 60 years, Joyce LaJeanne Geyer, nee Grammer; his children, Steven (Elise) Geyer, of Herndon, Virginia, Cynthia (Harold) Geyer-Goering, of Florissant, Missouri, Mark (Christina Roskowski) Geyer, of Fairview Heights, Illinois, and Heidi (Rodney) Kreke; his grandchildren, Ben, Kari, Tori, Jake, Nicole (Jesse), Alison, David (Brittany), Tim, Megan, Stephanie; his great-grandchildren, Brennan, Brantley, and Chase; three brothers, Don (MaryAnne) Geyer, Norm (Gail) Geyer, and Bob (Maureen) McGough; three sisters, Janet (Donald) Laverdure, Linda (Charlie) Grace, and Pegi McGough; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Funeral: A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, April 30, 2015, at the funeral home with Rev. Charles West officiating. Interment will follow in Lake View Memorial Gardens, Fairview Heights, Illinois.
