Clarence was known as “Tex” to his family and friends. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. While stationed at Scott Air Force Base, he met JoAnn Carr at the First Baptist Church in Belleville, Illinois during Labor Day weekend in 1951. He married JoAnn Carr, on December 26, 1951.
As a young man, he was a farmer, while raising his family he worked as an insurance salesman, then he semi-retired to Florida where he began a lawn service and owned and operated a neighborhood convenience store, Tex’s Handy Pantry. His last occupation he worked as a security/safety officer for Pinkerton Security Company.
He was a faithful Christian. He joined the Baptist Church as a youngster and continued his faith throughout his lifetime. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Freeburg, Illinois.
He possessed a vivid personality and was a great storyteller. He made quick friends wherever he went. He was an avid fisherman, who always carried a fishing pole in his car. He was a loving father, grandpa, great grandpa, brother, uncle, and friend. His most precious memories were those spent with his family and friends. He will truly be missed by all who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 64 years, JoAnn Marie Reynolds (nee Carr), who died on July 3, 2016; and his parents, Clarence Lee Sr. and Ethel (nee Summers) Reynolds.
