

Clarence Engelbert Snyder, 82, passed away on Tuesday, March 4, 2025, at home in O'Fallon, IL, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Belleville, IL, on October 3, 1942, to Engelbert and Evelyn (née Kloess) Snyder, who preceded him in death along with his beloved wife, Sally. Clarence embodied a spirit of service and dedication.
A proud U.S. Air Force 932nd Reserves Wing Veteran, he built a fulfilling career at Monsanto, served the City of Belleville, and worked as an independent handyman, showcasing his commitment to his community. In retirement, he embraced life, creating joyful memories with his family and friends during travels to Arizona and beyond with his wife, Sally.
As an active member of St. Paul United Church of Christ in Belleville, IL, Clarence's contributions to society were far-reaching; he was incredibly proud of his sixty years with the Masons at the St. Clair Lodge #24 A.F. & A.M. along with Ainad Shrine Temple. Clarence was with the Order of the Eastern Star in Queen City for fifty years, where he served as a Knights Templar, Royal and Select Masters, Cryptic Masons, and a member of Royal Arch #107, Commandery #50. He demonstrated his lifelong dedication to service and fellowship. His legacy also includes being a past board member of Pack # 14 of the Boy Scouts of America, shaping the next generation.
Clarence was preceded by his Beloved wife, Sally (nee Haeffner) Snyder (1996);
parents, Engelbert and Evelyn (nee Kloess) Snyder; brother, Robert "Bob" Snyder and sister Connie (nee Snyder) Anna.
He is survived by his beloved daughter, Sarah (Keith) Hafford; his son, Christopher (Catherine) Snyder; his supportive brother-in-law, Lawrence (Barbara) Haeffner; his uncle, Floyd Kloess; his cousins, Dana Kloess and Ryan Kloess; and his cherished grandchildren: Emily, Alyssa, Simon, Evan, Katrina, Heidi, and Brahm. He also leaves behind his godsons, Adam Herbert and Joe Snyder, along with many cousins, nieces, nephews, and dear friends, all touched by his kindness and joy.
He brought so much inspiration and joy to our lives.

Clarence's visitation will take place on Saturday, March 15, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at St. Paul United Church of Christ, located at 115 West B St, Belleville, IL 62220. This will be followed by a funeral service at 12:00 PM, which will include the Masonic and Eastern Star Rituals. Clarence will be laid to rest at Lake View Funeral Home & Memorial Gardens, in the Masonic Garden at 5000 N Illinois St, Fairview Heights, IL 62208, where he will receive military honors.
