Darlene Ann Falk

Darlene was born February 14, 1937 in Chester, IL to Max and Mary (Schubert) Mendell. She married Jim F. Falk on October 18, 1958 at St. Elizabeth Church in East St. Louis, IL. He survives and resides in Belleville, IL.

Also surviving are her children, Debra (Bret) Eastridge of Swansea, IL, Jim (Kim) Falk of Swansea, IL, and Darla Falk of Belleville, IL; four grandsons, Mike Sahr of Belleville, IL, Ryan Falk, Adam Falk and Alek Falk, all of Swansea, IL; niece, Allison Zielinski of Swansea, IL and nephew, Max Zielinski of Twentynine Palms, California.

Darlene was preceded in death by her parents; in-laws, Jim and Helen (Bryant) Falk; sister and brother-in-law, Maxine and Raymond Zielinski.

For many years, Darlene worked at Fun Spot at the snack bar. This job brought her years of friendships and smiles.

She was an avid reader and enjoyed doing puzzles. She and Jim loved visiting the casino and trying their luck on scratch-off lottery tickets.

Each month, she and her former St. Teresa Academy friends would gather for lunch; a special time she always looked forward to.

Above all else, Darlene loved her family, especially her four grandsons. They brought her years of joy and she was so proud to be their Grandma, who they affectionately called “Mom”. She will truly be missed by all who knew and loved her.

A visitation for Darlene will be held on Thursday, December 28, 2023 from 10:00 A.M.- 12:00 P.M. at Lake View Funeral Home.

A funeral service will follow the visitation, at 12:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Final interment will be held at Lake View Funeral Home, Fairview Heights, IL. Father Clyde Grogan will officiate.

Memorial donations in Darlene’s name may be given to Hospice of Southern Illinois. The family would also like to share a special thank you Hospice of Southern Illinois, Gloria Garner and Jescika Garner for their care and compassion shown to Darlene and the entire family.
