Eileen Virginia Elliot Gilmore

Eileen Virginia Gilmore, nee Elliot, 96, of Fairview Heights, Illinois, born June 22, 1918 in Roodhouse, Illinois, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 6, 2015 at Swansea Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Swansea, Illinois.

Eileen was member of the former Unity Roselawn Baptist Church, and attended other churches including St. Matthews United Methodist. She enjoyed playing the piano and organ especially for the Sunday school children. Growing and living on a farm gave Eileen the love animals of all shapes and sizes. She enjoyed gardening and was a loving mother and grandmother.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Basil M. Gilmore Jr., her parents; Earl and Verna, nee Crabtree, Elliot, a brother, Lee Elliot, and a sister, Leona “Sissy” Strawmat.

Surviving are her children; Kay (Ken) Fortner of Belleville, Illinois, and Basil M. Gilmore III of Killeen, Texas, three grandchildren; Tracy (Trusten) Williams of Camdenton, Missouri, Mark E. Gilmore of Killeen, Texas, and Lauren (Lucas) Hutchcraft of Henderson, Nevada, four great grandchildren; Alisha and Jacob Williams, and Conner and McKayla Gilmore, a brother Wayne Elliott of Roodhouse, Illinois, as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral: Funeral services will be held at 3 pm, Saturday, January 10, 2015 at Lake View Funeral Home, Fairview Heights, Illinois. Interment will be Lakeview Memorial Gardens, Fairview Heights, Illinois.
