Fern C. Black Simons

Fern C. Simons, nee Black, 92, of Shiloh, Illinois, formerly of Fairview Heights, Illinois, born January 1, 1921 in Eldorado, Illinois, went to be with the Lord on Monday, May 13, 2013 surrounded by her family at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Belleville, Illinois.

Mrs. Simons was a member of the First Baptist Church of Fairview Heights, Illinois and the First Baptist Church Joy Group. Fern was also very active socially at The Fountains of Shiloh, participating in many different activities while living there.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Julian C. Simons, her parents; Edward and Vera, nee Harrington, Black, a brother, Wayne Black, and a sister, Ruth Black.

Surviving are her children; Ron (Cheryl) Simons of Florissant, Missouri, Ken (Jan) Simons of Swansea, Illinois, Jim (Edmond Faget) Simons of Atlanta, Georgia, and Christine (Brad) Jones of Shiloh, Illinois, her grandchildren, Heather Williams, Jennifer Simons, Carrie (Ben) Lowry, Brittany Simons, Brett (Sojung) Simons, Aubrey (Robert) Hornak, and Sommer (Eric) Stuehlmeyer, her great grandchildren; Chelsea (Aaron) Jones, Payton Durbin, Jaedan Simons, and Jackson Lowry, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

The family would like to thank Gina and the staff at The Fountains of Shiloh, Betty Jo Smith, and Laurie Treece for their care, support, and kindness.

Visitation: Friends may call from 4 to 7 pm, Wednesday, May 15, 2013 at Lake View Funeral Home, Fairview Heights, Illinois.

Funeral: Funeral Services will be held at 10 am, Thursday, May 16, 2013 at Lake View Funeral Home, Fairview Heights, Illinois with Rev. Lisa Guilliams officiating. Interment will be in Lake View Memorial Gardens, Fairview Heights, Illinois.
