

Garry was born February 25, 1935 in Matoaka, WV to Mert and Vernia (Karnes) Jenkins.
He married Barbara Thompson; she preceded him in death on May 11, 2014.
He was also preceded in death by his parents; son, David Jenkins on March 14, 2023; and siblings, Dorla Tiller and Conrad Jenkins.
Garry is survived by his two sons, Gordon (Barbara) Jenkins of Belleville, IL and Derek (Kelly) Jenkins of Waterloo, IL; grandchildren, Jacob (Christine) Jenkins of Belleville, IL, Shellese (Jay) Jenkins of Belleville, IL, Matthew (Brittany) Jenkins of Belleville, IL, Brianna (Aaron) Jenkins of Pevely, MO, Megan Jenkins of Belleville, IL, Paige Jenkins of Fenton, MO, Dylan Roethlisberger of Waterloo, IL and Emily Roethlisberger of Waterloo, IL; great-grandchildren, Alyssa, Rylie, Maverick and Kayden; siblings, Daryl Jenkins of Virginia, Jimmy Jenkins of Georgia and Theda Farmer of West Virginia; his beloved dog, Luci B; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and dear friends.
Garry proudly served his country in the United State Air Force. He continued his career in communications with the Air Force, retiring as a tech sergeant after 22 years of devoted service. He then worked for 20 years for the United States Postal Service as a clerk in Belleville, IL.
He was an avid bowler for many years, spending time at both St. Clair Bowl and Bel-Air Bowl. He and Barbara were members of the former Westminster Presbyterian Church in Belleville, IL. They both loved to travel and visit new places. He was a devoted fan to the St. Louis Cardinals, watching and cheering them on, even in his last days.
Garry will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him but his memory & legacy will live on through his family forever.
A visitation for Gary will be held on Thursday, July 20, 2023 from 3:00 P.M.- 5:00 P.M. at Lake View Funeral Home, Fairview Heights, IL.
A funeral service will follow the visitation at 5:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
Cremation rites will be accorded following the service and final interment alongside his wife, Barbara will be at a later date at Lake View Memorial Gardens, Fairview Heights, IL.
Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross.
