Gary graduated from SIUE in 1966 with a Bachelor’s Degree. He spent two years in Peru working for the Peace Corps and worked as a clothing salesman at Small’s, then later Famous-Barr for most of his career. He was always known for being a sharply dressed man, which is affirmed by his tie collection. Gary was an avid sports fan; he especially loved the Cardinals and hearing all about his coaching brother’s and nephew’s basketball games.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edwin and Elizabeth (nee McDonald) Knolhoff.
Surviving to cherish his memory are his son, Matthew Knolhoff; grandchildren, Alex, Audrey, and Evan Knolhoff; brothers, Dennis (Denise) Knolhoff and Greg (Kim) Knolhoff; sisters, Peggy (Jonathan) Feldman, Janelle (Ralph) Wappel, and Laurie (Frank) Vollmer; plus numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He will be dearly missed and fondly remembered for his humor and his kindness.
The family would like to thank the staff of Lebanon Care Center for the excellent care and companionship they provided to Gary over the years.
