

Mr. Overby retired as a process operator at Afton Chemical Company in Sauget, Illinois after 36 years. He was a member of Local 871C and was also on the executive board as recording secretary for Local 1726 United Steel Workers from 1969-1973.
Gary was a dedicated Ford man who also loved dirt track stock car races. He was the former recording secretary and president of the Southern Illinois Street Rod Association in 1998. He also enjoyed camping and fishing at Carlyle Lake, watching the St. Louis Rams play, and spending time with his family. He was a loving husband and father and a devoted grandfather. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Nancy, nee Indermark, Overby; daughters, Dawn (Danny) Anderton and Teri (Jesse) Cox; two grandchildren, Austin D. Orr “Hotrod” and Brylee N. Anderton “Stinkpot.”
He was proud of his grandchildren and would always tell them, “I live through your eyes.” He also loved his favorite dogs, Sneaker and Gidget.

Funeral: Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, March 24th, 2015 at Lake View Funeral Home, Fairview Heights, Illinois.
Interment in Lake View Memorial Gardens.
