Gene graduated from SWIC and worked at Roeslein & Associates in Red Bud, Illinois. He enjoyed having a great time with his friends. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Gene R. Schmidt, Sr.; his maternal grandfather, Warren J. “Jack” Range; and one brother, in infancy, Nicholas Ryan Schmidt.
Survived and missed by his father, Gene R. Schmidt, Jr.; his mother, Linda, nee Range, Schmidt; one sister, Lynn Schmidt; one brother, Greg Schmidt; his paternal grandmother, Mary Alice Schmidt; his maternal grandmother, Mary Ann Range; his girlfriend, Erin Hamilton; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Friends may call from 11-2 p.m., Saturday, October 29, 2016 at Lake View Funeral Home, Fairview Heights, Illinois. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Interment to follow in Lake View Memorial Gardens, Fairview Heights, Illinois.
