Gerrit proudly served his country as a Master Sergeant in the United States Air Force, earning deep respect for his dedication, skill, and commitment. After his military service, he carried his work ethic into civilian life as a talented locksmith and later with M&M Mobile Home Services, where his ability to fix absolutely anything became well known throughout the community. If something was broken, Gerrit was always the one people trusted to make it right.
His “home away from home” was the KC Hall, where he shared countless hours with friends who became like family. The laughter, stories, and camaraderie he found there were some of his greatest joys.
Gerrit is survived by his wife, Peggy Dendekker, and his loving children, who will carry forward his strength, warmth, and steady presence for the rest of their lives.
He will be remembered for his unmatched work ethic, sharp mind, generous spirit, and the many friendships he built over a lifetime. Gerrit’s legacy of service, loyalty, and kindness will live on through everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.
A celebration of life will be held at a later time.
