

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 40 years, whom he married on January 1st, 1966, Thelma Hickman (nee Branigan); parents, Stanley Hickman and Viola Hickman (nee Crumer); sister, Margie Hickman; and brothers, Robert Hickman and Clyde Hickman.
Surviving to cherish his memory are his daughters, Lisa Hickman and Lori Hickman; grandson, Shoaib Muhammad; brothers, Cletus Hickman, Clifford Hickman, and Ernest (Jewell) Hickman; plus a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
Harold was a computer programmer. He loved to tell everyone the story of how the bank President of the 1st National Bank of Collinsville sought him out specifically to work on implementing the banks operating systems. The president regularly took him out to lunch for his dedicated work ethic and expertise. He continued his career with the United States government, Middle West Freight and Trucking Co., Monsanto, and Solutia.
Harold was a longtime competitive bowler in many leagues and tournaments over the years. He often spoke of his perfect 300 game. He enjoyed keeping his lawn and landscaping meticulous. He would spend hours in the yard after work. He collected classic cars to restore. Some of his favorites were 1967 Chevrolet Chevelle Malibu, 1968 Ford Mustang, and Chevrolet El Camino.
Most of all, Harold was a dedicated and loving provider and protector of his family. Family always came first. He was a loving husband, father, son, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend to all.
Harold was a very generous man and always gave a helping hand to those in need. It could be a stranger on the street or a loved one that needed help. Over the years, he regularly gave contributions to many charities. In honor of Harold, give a helping hand to someone or donate to your favorite charity.
Visitation will take place from 11:30 AM to 1:30 PM on Thursday, October 19, 2023 at Lake View Funeral Home, Fairview Heights, IL, with a funeral service to commence at 1:30 PM, officiated by Rev. Ernest Hickman. Interment to follow at Lake View Memorial Gardens, Fairview Heights, IL.
