Harold Roland Stroup

Harold was a United States Navy Veteran who served in WWII; He retired after 28 years in February 1988 from Continental Can “Crown Cork and Seal” Shipping Department, St. Louis, MO. He was a member of American Legion, Collinsville, Ill., and Meadow Height Baptist Church, Collinsville, Ill., and enjoyed gardening, picture taking and was an avid traveler who walked in all 50 states.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank & Nettye Ruth, nee Roland, Stroup.

Surviving are his loving wife of 62 years, Phyllis Stroup of 62 years; his children, David (Cathy) Stroup, Hazel (John) Lovshe, Larry (Sue) Stroup, Barbara (Mike) Tenting, Carol (Jim) Schmidt, Martha (Mark) Mizulski; 11 Grandchildren, Margaret (Jeff) Miller, Scott Stroup, Kathie (Dan) Hinkebein, Alaque (Joe) Vallina, Matthew (Ashley) Stroup, Caleb Stroup, Sarah (Andrew) Bailey, Chris Tenting, Megan Schmidt, Jacob Mizulski and Lucas Mizulski; and 7 great-grandchildren and a sister, Mary Lou Summers.

Visitation: Friends may call from 5:00 P.M. – 8:00 P.M. on Friday, June 8, 2012 at Lake View Funeral Home, Fairview Heights, Ill.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, June 9, 2012 at Lake View Funeral Home with Rev. Dr. Jim Donahue officiating. Interment will be held in Lake View Memorial Gardens, Fairview Heights, Ill.
