Jesse L. Stanley, 96, passed away on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, at Barnes Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri. He was born in Paragould, Arkansas on June 4, 1929, to Jesse Sr., and Flora Pearl (nee Propst) Stanley.
During his life, Jesse worked for Terminal Railroad Company for 42 years as a Communications Manager. He served in the Army as a postal man. He was also a Mason and Shriner in his life.
After retiring, Jesse loved to play golf. He played at least three times a week up to the age of 95.
Jesse loved to travel and took several trips with PSOP.
Jesse and Gerri met at a PSOP dance in 2009 and married in 2010. They were married at Niagara Falls and went on a zip line. Jesse loved his family dearly and loved to spend time with them. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinal fan. He rooted for them even in the losing years. Jesse, with his first wife, Mary, traveled to all 50 states.
Jesse was preceded in death by his daughter, Susan (aka Suzie), his parents, six brothers and sisters, and his first wife of 56 years, Mary Stanley.
He is survived by his wife of 15 years, Gerri Stanley; daughter, Sharon (Bill) Hill of Dallas, Texas; granddaughters, Jennifer (John) Hoerchler of Eureka, Missouri and Megan (Jeremy) Haynes of Caseyville, Illinois. And his additional family, Bob, Mark, and Terry Brewer and their families.
Jesse was loved by seven great-grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be submitted to Christ Church or The American Cancer Society. For all donations to the church, please pay to the order of Christ Church (Memo: In Memory of Jesse Stanley).
A visitation for Jesse will be held on Monday, November 3, 2025, from 9:30am – 1:00pm at Lake View Funeral Home, 5000 N Illinois Street, Fairview Heights, Illinois 62208. The funeral service will begin at 1:00pm.
The service will be officiated by Reverend Shane Bishop.
