Kenneth Paul Schroen

Kenneth P. “Ken” Schroen, 78, of Fairview Heights, Illinois, born on June 11, 1938 in East St. Louis, Illinois, died on June 21, 2016 at Memorial Hospital, Belleville, Illinois, with his loving family by his side.

Ken enjoyed sports, but was an avid boxing fan. He was a longtime member of United Church of Christ in Edgemont and was employed by Obear Nester Glass and Dial Corporation for many years before retiring. He will be missed by all who knew him.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Lauretta, nee Halle, Schroen; seven brothers, Herbert Schroen, Emil (Fern) Schroen, Walter Schroen, Homer (Hattie) Schroen, Donald Schroen, Ronald Schroen, and Robert Schroen; three sisters, Dorothy Youngman, LaVerne Willis and Vera (Ray) Hoef; and one sibling in infancy, Baby Schroen.

Surviving is his loving wife of 51 years, Linda, nee Wiley, Schroen; one daughter, Angie (Tom Braun) Schroen; his nieces nephews, Don (Sharon) Schroen, Mr. & Mrs. Gary Schroen, Donna Naylor, Debbie Hoef, Barbie (Don) Kinsworthy, and Kathy (Tony) Brink; two honorary grandchildren, Kelly (Rey) Mendoza and Megan (Matt Warneke) Brannon; one honorary great-grandchild, Jace Mendoza; two sisters-in-law, Marrietta (Bob) Spragg, and Kitty (Jim) Martin; and his loyal companion, Mickey.

Friends may call from 4-8 p.m., Thursday, June 23rd, 2016 at Lake View Funeral Home, Fairview Heights, Illinois. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, June 24, 2016 in the funeral home chapel. Inurnment in Mount Hope Cemetery at a later date.
