

Herman Lamar Moore went to be with his Heavenly Father on July 4th, 2011.
The heavens greeted him with celebration of his homecoming.
Lamar was born in Tupelo, Mississippi on September 13, 1929 to loving parents Edwin L. Moore, Sr. and Bertha O. (Riddle) Moore.
Following in the steps of his dad, he became a union carpenter for Local 633. He worked for M. H. Wolfe, Granite City, IL for over 20 years. Lamar then became a business partner with his brother, Ed for 10+ years. He went on to establish Lamar Moore Construction Company in Granite City for over 25 years. Some of his projects in the Metro-East area include: Greenville Water Treatment, Army Depot, Olin Brass, Reilly Tar, Good Samaritan Nazarene Church, Irwin Funeral Chapel, Dial Properties, Kerr-McGee, First Baptist Church of Collinsville, Harvest Community Church, and St. John’s Cemetery.
Lamar was a life-long active member of the Good Samaritan Nazarene Church in Collinsville, IL where he devoted his carpentry and construction skills as well as serve as a Board Member and usher. It was at church that he met the love of his life,” Kate”, and they were married on March 18, 1950. Together they enjoyed raising their 3 children, the joys of their life, built and rented many apartments, helped many people and traveled the world.
Lamar proudly served his country thru the U.S. Army during the Korean War-time in Germany.
Lamar faced and battled many serious physical challenges in his lifetime and never complained but used opportunities to share his faith and trust.
We were blessed to have such a wonderful husband, dad, grandfather, brother, cousin and friend. He will always be remembered for his constant dedication to us and for his Christian values that shaped and guided his life and in turn, ours. We are all better people for having Lamar in our lives. He has left the world a better place for having been a part of it and will be missed beyond words.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by, brothers Paul and Eugene (Gene) Moore and his grandson, Anthony Don Cato
Lamar leaves to celebrate his life, his wife and loving companion of 61 years, Lillie Kathleen “Kate” (Dunn) Moore, daughter Janice (Donald) Cato, sons Bruce (Karen) Moore, Mark (Kimberly) Moore and 5 grandchildren: Tyson Cato, Ashley (Kyle) Kerkemeyer, Kelsea, Kourtney and Logan Moore, brothers: Edwin “Ed” L. Moore, Jr. and Robert “Bob” (Pat) Moore and many family and friends.
Visitation: 4 to 8 PM on Thursday, July 7, 2011 at the LakeView Funeral Home in Fairview Heights, IL
Funeral: 11 AM on Friday, July 8, 2011 at LakeView with Pastor Kevin Hancock officiating. A Christian burial will follow at LakeView.
Memorials are appreciated to Good Samaritan Nazarene Church and the American Heart Association.
