He was born July 27, 1957 in Canton, Ohio to Roy Hoover and Helen (Byers) Holden. Larry and Unkyong Lee Holden joined in matrimony on December 13, 1983 in Seoul, South Korea.
Surviving family members include wife, Lee; their daughter, Jaclyn (Marcus) Gass; beloved grandsons, Joseph, Jude, James Preston; and one sister, Deborah (Jan) Bauer.
He was preceded in death by his father, Roy Hoover Holden, and mother, Helen (Dale) Scharringhausen.
Larry proudly served his country in the United States Air Force, devoting 20 years of service. Upon retirement, he continued on to work at Scott Air Force Base in 375 Civil Engineering Services.
In years past, "Too Tough Larry" enjoyed the outdoors often participating in hunting, fishing, and shooting contests. He boxed in the Air Force, was an avid cycler, biking countless miles over the years, and had an affinity towards custom trucks. Because of his creative and fastidious personality, he had a natural inclination towards carpentry with a multitude of builds. There also was not an issue he faced that couldn't be tinkered with or fixed through some Larry ingenuity. People will fondly remember his bantering humor as he whipped up a jingle or nickname for everything and loved to pull a successful prank off. More importantly, his thoughtfulness for others was always felt . He would give detailed reminders for loved ones and not a holiday could pass without a gesture given to his wife Lee or small gift brought to his daughter upon returning from any trip.
He had a deep love for the Lord and could often be seen reading the Bible and in prayer. The absence of his earthly presence will be felt by all who loved him, but let us pray; Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, and let the perpetual light shine upon him. May he rest in peace. Amen. May almighty God bless us with His peace and strength, the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.
